Welcome to the Flathead Valley

Flathead County is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.  It is located in the northwest corner of Montana, about 1 hour from the Canadian border.  It is more than 5,000 square miles in size and home to approximately 90,000 residents.  The three largest cities are Kalispell, Whitefish and Columbia Falls in that order.  Bigfork and Lakeside are two other popular areas with smaller but thriving communities on the shores of Flathead Lake.   The Flathead Valley encompasses some of the most beautiful country in the United States.  It hosts the majestic and grand Glacier National Park.  Flathead Lake which is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi is stunning in its size and beauty.  The Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort is a world class ski resort and Blacktail in Lakeside is a smaller, more intimate family style ski resort.  Within and surrounding the Valley is the Flathead National Forest – 2.3 million acres of federally protected public land teeming with wildlife.  This wildlife includes bears, moose, deer, elk, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, wolves and even some mountain lions. The Flathead Valley also offers an excellent innovative school system, an inviting and supportive environment for business, amazing restaurants offering a large selection of cuisine (yes, even Sushi!), top notch theater and entertainment and endless outdoor activities for all.  Tired of the rat race, skyscrapers and traffic?? Come to the Flathead Valley!
